“Iris” is one of those albums that pulls out all the stops and when it isn’t blurring the lines of multiple genres, it’s setting down stalwart ramparts firmly within one or another. An album that plays out like The Heroes Journey- an arc of inner turmoil, exterior conflict, a test of mettle on all fronts as you make your way in the world toward your one true destiny and stand at the gates with an open heart and all of the world at your back. justanoldgod
Oakland, CA quartet LYCUS return with a new album on Relapse Records. Heavy, epic, mournful, and replete with art by Paolo Girardi. Bandcamp New & Notable Jan 5, 2016
Conceptually it doesn't seem like that big of a difference - dark metal with a focus around piano based songs and clean/harsh vocals. But holy shit is this otherworldly. Nachtterror create an total unique vision from the artwork to the layered vocal harmonies. You know years have gone into crafting this album and it does not disappoint. I literally stopped what I was doing once I heard "The Beauty Of The Withering Flower" to focus on what was unfolding. A cult wonder that demands wider exposure. bcb723
